Ephesians 6 Warfare Prayer
by Rick Bowen on February 16, 2018I challenge you to pray this prayer now and each morning for a whole week!
On Sunday, I was receiving prayer as I do each week prior to the service. It’s great! However I felt distinctly impressed of the Holy Spirit to teach on “all kinds of PRAYER!” Ephesians 1:18 Then Wednesday night I mentioned that in the course of my teaching. We have limited ourselves to one or two kinds of prayer thus often not praying effectively (James 5:26) . This morning I was praying and the Holy Spirit anointed me to pray Ephesians 6:10-18! As I was praying the voice of the LORD said write it down for others. So here it is!
Ephesians 6 Warfare Prayer (RLB)
Thank you Lord for not leaving us defenseless. Thank you Lord for not leaving us without offense. We ask for and receive your strength that you have provided for us (Nehemiah 8:10; Phil. 4:13). We have power, miracle working power (Acts 1:8) because we are baptized in your Spirit. Fill me afresh with your Spirit now! Let me be a yielded vessel (2 Timothy 2:21)!
When I am through with my prayer today, I will stand strong against every force that tries to hinder or endanger me. I will defeat every demonic being that attempts to stop me in fulfilling my assignment. I know the day we live in is evil (Ephesians 5:16). We are approaching the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). The culture of society has been perverted. Deception has taken captive many that often unwittingly wind up on the wrong side.
I am now ready to put on my whole armor and become active in demolishing the strongholds of the enemy (2Corinthians 10:4)! I recognize that my opposition is not limited to the visible and material realm. Rather my adversity originates in the spirit world. I recognize there is a hierarchy of beings that oppose me and my brothers and sisters. We cannot defeat our enemy with fleshly weapons or defend ourselves without the proper spiritual armor.
Therefore, NOW I put on the armor of God. The whole armor of God.
I put on the belt of truth. My loins are gird about with God’s Word. This means my posterity, natural and spiritual, is being influenced with powerful words of truth. Deposits of Gods clear, pure, powerful Word are now instilled in those in my family and circle of influence.
It also means that I will eliminate and cast off any and all poisonous propaganda. I will render waste, indoctrinations of the wrong source. My body is the temple of the Holy Ghost (1 Corinthians 6:19)!
My core is strong and therefore I stand erect with courage and resolve as I go into battle today anticipating the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Tim. 1:7, 1 John 5:4).
I put on the breastplate of righteousness. My heart is protected from sin and iniquity. I ask for forgiveness of any wrong motive, attitude, emotion, mannerism, or behavior. I recognize that my righteousness will not suffice (Isaiah 64:6). But, I am not worried because you have armed me with yours, Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21)! So my vitality is intact. I will survive. I will overcome!
I put on the shoes of the gospel of peace. Though it sounds paradoxical, I am, through this fight, joining with my captain in the message of true and lasting peace. This peace outranks understanding and keeps my heart and mind through Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:6,7,8). I am ready to go forth and declare liberty as a message of assurance and hope to those that the enemy has held captive for far too long (Isaiah 61:1-3). Opportunities, today, to speak that peace into hearts of turmoil will not be neglected because I have on my shoes of readiness!
I take the shield of faith (confidence and trust in God)! By it, I will quench (render null and void) all the fiery darts of the wicked one. He is constantly looking for an opening. But I will give him none! Wrong philosophies and distorted doctrines will not be able to lodge in my body, soul, or spirit. They will bounce off because I am shielded by my faith. I am safe in Jesus’ Name (Psalm 91).
I put on my head, my helmet, the helmet of salvation. I am a Christian. My mind belongs to God. My will, my emotions, and my intellect or protected. I will not be vulnerable to the enemy. I will not be injured in my capacity to strategize or to think properly. I reject every thought of defeat or negative suggestion that implies I will not fulfill my assignment. I am secure in Jesus of Nazareth!
Now that I am armored up, I take up my weapons. First, I grip the sword of the Spirit which is God’s Word! It is sharper than any two edged sword (Hebrews 4:12,13). I will wield it in all directions. By it I will demolish the strongholds of the enemy. It will extract poisons from the injured. It will defeat the enemies ploys. It works at all times and for every malady it is the remedy!
Here in my prayer closet, I pray this prayer. But it is not some rote prayer that I cite with no passion. Rather it is a launching pad into intense victorious announcements and proclamations of truth. I now pray in the Holy Ghost. I am able now to enter into the perfect plan of God for this day by this supernatural language that God has given me (Pray in the spirit for a while!) Continually fill me with the Holy Spirit when I pray as led for all saints and ministry people, with perseverance.
I leave this time of prayer today fully confident that my spiritual senses are honed and sharpened, ready for every good work. I will not be defeated because I have obeyed the LORD. I am armored up with my sword in my hand and a prayer on my heart and lips, in the name of Jesus Christ from Nazareth! Amen!
Now as you prayer this prayer once a day for a week, allow the Holy Spirit to take you further into details and proclamations of truth in each section of the prayer. Don’t hesitate to call names. Be specific with details, circumstances and issues. Do now cower! You are the VICTOR, no longer the victim!
